Hey Guys!
Sarah Nicole François here (artist and designer of 000SPORTWEAR by Sarah Nicole Francois) along w/ Vanessa Barros Andrade (artist and curator at A Place Gallery & Studios)
organizers of the Power Panel: A Discourse w/ Black Creatives. We wanted to set out and create an environment where we can discuss the creative, political and social ideologies that surround blackness and our work and welcome other black creatives to share their narratives with our community.
Our goal with this event is community building through shared experiences and creating visibility for Black Creatives specifically within Orlando.
This panel will be moderated by the amazing Jahfre Colbert artist and co-organizer of BodyTalk
"Experiencing Blackness, being of Blackness and being defined by Blackness are experiences inextricably linked to a dance with power, a defining interaction. What does one do with power when one has it in revolutionary times? How is blackness defined by power? Is Blackness a product of power? Are those defied by Blackness ruled out, by constitution, as agents of power?”- Jahfre Colbert
Some of the topics to be discussed:
+ Visibility
+ Black Erasure within our Local Community.
+ Defining your “Blackness"
